Sue Ryder needs volunteer receptionists
We are looking for a few volunteer Receptionists at the Sue Ryder Hospice, Nettlebed. We need people to cover pm shifts on Fridays and am/pm shifts on Sats/Suns on a rota basis. Each shift is a max of 4 hours. Duties include greeting visitors, answering the telephone and some basic computer work. A caring, sensitive personality is essential. Further details of request for information about WW2 air crash
An aircraft collided with some trees and crashed at Woodhouse Farm, Ipsden at 4-30 pm on 20 October 1943. The site is adjacent to Grim’s Ditch, north of Hailey.
The pilot was a cousin of mine and I thought that I would get down on paper, mainly for my grandchildren, what I knew about him (before it was too late !). He and I went to the same school.
The aircraft was a Short Stirling Mk III ' WP-L' of 90 Squadron based at RAF Tuddenham, Suffolk.
The aircraft had been struck by lightning a few days before, whilst on a mine laying operation, and had to return, damaged, to base. The aircraft then crashed whilst on an Air Test, presumably after repairs. I guess it may have been in difficulties and may have been trying to land at RAF Benson - or maybe it was taking off from Benson.

Temporary Road Closure at Rotherfield Greys, Greys Road- 18th June 2019
A temporary Notice is being made
to implement the temporary closure and will operate from 18 June 2019
The anticipated completion date is
19 June 2019. This a 24 hour closure.
Access will be maintained for
emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area,
subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works
supervisor.
