What to do in the event of a Powercut

Communication received from UK Power Networks You may have seen the forecast of unsettled weather over the next few days with heavy rain and lightning affecting parts of the East and South East of England. We are currently monitoring the weather closely and we are in regular contact with the Met Office as the forecast develops. Our electricity network is built to be resilient but extreme weather can affect overhead and underground power lines, resulting in some customers losing their electricity supply. Where this happens we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We have organised for additional staff in our contact centre to help customers whose electricity supply might be affected by the predicted weather, and we have called-up additional engineers to carry out repairs to our electricity network. You will be able to find regular updates on our website www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk and social media @UKPowerNetworks throughout this period. Anyone experiencing a power cut should: Call 105 to report power...

Nettlebed Art and Craft Show needs more help

To keep Nettlebed Art and Craft Show on the road we need more help with setting up on Friday 3rd August from 11.30 am. This would involve rearranging school furniture, setting up screens and tables... so a bit of a workout for someone who likes to keep fit. Just let me know what sort of times you could manage. Stewarding duties are available on Saturday 4th 11.00 to 12.30 and between 12.30 to 3.00 pm and on Sunday 5th  3.00 to 5.00 pm. These would be light duties to help welcome our guests and give other stewards a break. Quite social really. Then help would be welcome to take it all down, any time from 5 pm onwards. Once purchasers and artists have collected their items between 5.00 and 7.00 pm,  it will be quite physical work to get Nettlebed Community hall back to rights. Just let me know what you could do. Any help gratefully received by the Nettlebed Art Society Committee. Contact me:...
