Nettlebed Parish Council has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor Do you want to make a positive difference in our village? Would you like to influence decisions that affect your community? You need to be willing to give up some of your time. How much depends on you and your commitment to work for your community without being paid. Parish Council meets once a month (except August & December) usually on the first Wednesday of the month - although meetings will be moving to the first Tuesday of the month from April 2021). Meetings normally last around 1-2 hours. You must be 18 or over, an elector and have been a resident or worked within 3 miles of the Parish for the last year. Below are some details shared on the Parish Council Website which hopes to inform everyone about the best use of the salt in the various salt/grit bins in the village. There is a short video and a snow guide below for reference too (NB : Before we start - it is important to remind everyone that using the salt bins for private paths and driveways is not what that salt and grit is therefore and is theft.) If you need to use the salt in the grit bins, here’s a guide on how best to use it. The amount of salt required to treat an area is much less than you think. As a guide 20g/m² (about a heaped tablespoon) should be sufficient to clear and protect a 1m2 area of footway or carriageway surface. South Oxfordshire District Council are urging people not to light bonfires at this time to protect the respiratory health of the vulnerable and to avoid unnecessary burden on the NHS. COVID-19 is a respiratory disease and smoke inhalation can impair people’s breathing.  In addition to this, with larger numbers of people now working from home and also looking after children, the smoke from such bonfires can cause unnecessary nuisance to your neighbours. Do you really need to have a bonfire to dispose of your waste? Happy to say that as of today, Friday, July 24th, Nettlebed Playground is open! We thank all residents for their patience and understanding as we prepared this playground for a safe re-opening. In line with government guidelines regarding the re-opening of playgrounds, please note the following in relation to the re-opening of the play area: • Sanitise hands before entering and on leaving• Try not to touch your face, eyes, nose or mouth, or put your mouth on equipment.• Follow the current social distance and government guidelines when visiting and encourage children to do the same• Limit your time and only one adult to accompany a child/children• If possible, clean high frequency touch points before using the equipment• Do not eat or drink in the play area• Put your litter in the bins provided but ideally take your litter home with you• If possible, a face covering should be worn (this does not apply to children under 3 years)• If the playground...
