Next Friday is a special bank holiday as the 75th anniversary of VE Day.  We may not be able to have a village celebration together but it would be lovely if you could decorate your windows, doors and front garden’s in red, white and blue. Or if you have any put some Union Jack bunting up.  Please pass on to friends and neighbours :-) Here is a short running order for the events nationally on the day ... Do you want to make a positive difference in our village? Would you like to influence decisions that affect your community? You need to be willing to give up some of your time. How much time depends on you and your commitment to work for your community without being paid. The parish council meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except August and December). Meetings usually last up to two hours. You must be aged 18 or over, an elector and have been a resident or worked within 3 miles of the Parish for the last year. Urgent appeal to dog walkers

What follows is an urgent reminder from the Nettlebed Estate Manager about the importance of dog control. There was a sheep killed by a dog near Nettlebed yesterday, in a field bordering the Estate Road that heads from the Nettlebed church towards Witheridge Hill/Stoke Row.   Can I ask that dog walkers please have complete control of their dogs at all times and if that’s not possible do not let it off the lead?  A dog chasing sheep causes them extreme stress which can kill them even if they are not attacked directly.  In these difficult times, I appreciate that there are more people than normal needing to take exercise in the countryside but I ask that you respect the property of those who farm the land. Nettlebed Art Society members have taken the sad decision to cancel this year's Art and Craft Show, which was due to take place on 1st and 2nd August in Nettlebed Community School Hall. We will announce dates for next year later on when Covid-19 has abated. Meanwhile, whilst all are in isolation, there is a wonderful opportunity to be creative in preparation for 2021 so that we can put on the best show ever. We would like to thank all those who support us by advertising in our catalogue, and all of you who come and make purchases during the show. Nettlebed Creamery is open every weekday 9:30 am - 4 pm selling organic cheese and milk from the Cheese Hatch. Please ring the bell and bear with them - the cheesemakers are sometimes busy in another part of the building but will come and serve as soon as they can. Obviously all protections are taken during the pandemic so contact is kept to absolute minimum.
