Pleased to report the roof and window repairs are now complete. We now strive to do further refurbishment to this grand old building so we still need even more money! We have spent the generous donations already given so if anyone feels they can do anything to raise money it would be much appreciated. As we always say, the halls are there for this purpose and, once again, very many thanks to all that have made these recent repairs possible....

Dear friends,
You are of course aware that the loss of our Post Office at Nettlebed is imminent, one example of an ongoing and seemingly inexorable withdrawal of postal services from our local communities.
So what options are available to stem the tide?
Nettlebed Parish Council will host a meeting for John Howell MP to debate this issue with local Parish Councillors. The meeting is also open to any interested members of the public. It is to take place on THURSDAY 15th FEBRUARY, 7:30pm, AT NETTLEBED VILLAGE CLUB.
It is a matter of deep concern to a great many of us, so I look forward to seeing you there and to hear your contributions.
Best regards,
Cllr Jonathan Sedwell, Chair, Nettlebed Parish Council...

Dear All
As some of you will already be aware, following discussion with David Nimmo-Smith, it is suggested we meet to discuss the post office issue. Before we meet I want to set out the situation with regard to Nettlebed Post Office as I see it. I do appreciate how important this Post Office is to you and have been in regular touch with the PO since the Network Transformation Programme began.
Let me start by reminding you that the Government is very committed to rural Post Offices. Perhaps you missed the investment of £370 million announced just before Christmas.

I have challenged the PO on many occasions over particular issues in the constituency including Nettlebed Post Office. Change always brings its challenges and on the whole, the Network Transformation Programme that PO Ltd embarked on seems to have been successful. It is good to see that at last the business has turned around to make a profit after many years in the...
Dear Suzanne (Parish Clerk)
I fear the letter you have is now dated and the situation is not now as optimistic.
We were all hopeful that Malthouse would continue to operate the Post Office until a mobile service was in place. However I was advised on 23rd January by Laura Tarling, External Affairs Manager for the Post Office, that Malthouse had advised that it would not be possible to continue under the current way they operate the branch and thus there will be a temporary closure of the service.
I am, of course, keeping up the pressure on this and have asked the Post Office to give me an indication of timescale and also to keep me updated on progress.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news in this instance.
With best wishes
John (Howell MP)
