Southern Electric have been in contact this morning.  As you may be aware, we are expecting bad weather to come in overnight tonight (Wednesday 17/01 into midmorning Thursday 18/01). From reviewing data on previous power interruptions from earlier this winter the circuit that Nettlebed is fed from was affected. In light of the anticipated weather South Electric have additional field staff rota'd on to help overnight and tomorrow as well as strategically located mobile generation nearby should it be needed. This note confirms discussions held between the Post Office and John Howell MP, Member of Parliament for the Henley Constituency, on 12 January 2018. The MP had a meeting with the Post Office on 12 January 2018 (Laura Tarling – External Affairs Manager). The result was that the Post Office confirmed the following: · The decision to close the Nettlebed post office was taken by Malthurst (who operate the garage) – not the Post Office; · The Post Office wants to ensure that a Post Office can be provided in Nettlebed; · They are trying to arrange an extension to the closure period set out by Malthurst in order to get more time to develop a replacement service; · They are examining whether the option of a permanent post office in Nettlebed would be viable; · If not, they are also looking at arrangements for a mobile service to be provided in Nettlebed subject to siting; · The meeting agreed that there was urgent need to find...

Is anyone making marmalade or could use the sugar in any way or any thoughts on where I could deliver the sugar to. Sadly food banks don’t want it as its loose. This Sunday 14th January Patrick Amory is leading a drop-in work party on the Nettlebed Commons.  We will be there from 11-4pm and keen for as many who might be interested to come and join - whether you are looking for a work-out before lunch, something to get your children outside for or because you love our wonderful Commons - come and help clear scrub, improve the habitats for the rare and threatened species we have and build enormous piles for bug hotels.  Our Ecologist, Rod D’Ayala will be there directing operations and answering questions.  The more volunteers the merrier.
