Electric Vehicle Charging

The Parish Council have received the following information from Oxfordshire County Council regarding EV charging. One key solution for residents who lack off-street parking is the Gul-e cable gully solution - https://gul-e.co.uk/ - which is a very simple cable channel embedded into the pavement to allow a resident to safely get a cable from a wall-mounted home charger to their EV at kerbside without causing a trip hazard. Waste Service in the extreme heat

Please put your bins out the night before they’re due to be emptied this week. Biffa will begin waste collections at 5am on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July due to the expected heatwave. This should help their crews avoid being out at the hottest part of the day. Even with the early start, it’s possible Biffa’s waste collection crews may not be able to complete their rounds. If this happens and your bins are not emptied, please leave them out for two days after your scheduled collection day and the crews will aim to catch up later in the week. BEECHCROFT ANNOUNCE OPENING OF NEW FOOTPATH AT JOYCE GROVE The new owner of the former Sue Ryder Home at Nettlebed has announced that a footpath which is parallel to the High Street will be open to the public from the end of this month.  A planning application granted to Sue Ryder for the re-development of the former hospice and surrounding buildings includes a requirement to provide a footpath running from the entrance gate close to the High Street on the eastern side of the village to the western side of Joyce Grove near the Nettlebed Creamery.  The planning conditions stipulate that the footpath needed to be opened prior to the first residents moving into the apartments. However, Beechcroft Developments has decided not to wait for the planning application to be implemented and are aiming to have the footpath open by the end of June once security fencing is in place.  This approach was communicated to a meeting of Nettlebed Parish Council on Tuesday...

Nettlebed’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Lighting Of The Beacon & The Big Lunch

Dear all Nettlebed villagers. IMPORTANT information below regarding the celebrations in the village for The Queens Platinum Jubilee next week. As you may know The Cheese Shed is hosting the Queens Platinum Jubilee lighting of the beacon on Thursday 2nd June. It will start at 5pm for a kids hour with Bertie Slippers and face painting.  6pm - 9:15pm, the delicious cheese toasties, hot corgis and ice cream will be served. There will be a fully licensed bar. There will be live music from Purdy and her band, or as some of you locals will know her as Rebecca Poole before the procession to the bonfire and the lighting of the beacon.
