Nettlebed's Annual Spring Clean & Litter Blitz will take place this year on Saturday 25th March. Meet at the Community Car Park at 10am. Once again, The White Hart will be offering free tea, coffee and sandwiches to volunteers after the litter pick. Verge raking - Watlington Street A total of 16 volunteers and Parish Councillors turned out on Saturday to rake four verges that have been designated as wildflower verges in Nettlebed. The project is supported by the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment with funding from Grundon Waste Management Ltd. It was a good turnout and everyone got stuck in, it was quite heavy work as the ground needed to be raked to break up the soil ready for the planting native wildflower plugs in late March – we’re aiming for after the last frost. The volunteers were all issued with hi-viz which were kindly donated by Grundon – they were even printed with ‘Nettlebed wildflower project’ on the back! The wildflower verges will help support biodiversity by allowing bees, butterflies and other species to thrive…and they will look stunning too! Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice – S14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Temporary Road Closure at Broadplat, Unnamed Road In the interests of public safety; it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close the road as detailed above in order to facilitate removal of standing dead tree which is hazardous to the highway. A temporary Notice is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate on 07 February 2023. This will operate between 09:30 and 15:30. Nettlebed Parish Council would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! SATURDAY, 11th Feb (meeting at 10.30am in front of the play area on Watlington Street.) One of the Parish Council’s first activities for 2023, is the rewilding of our verges. Councillors are inviting willing volunteers to help rake the wildflower verges along Watlington Street in preparation for spring planting of wild flower plugs. Many hands make light work - please do come along if you would like to help restore nature’s richness, the result will be beautiful native flowers along the roadside and improved biodiversity.
